Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, 2025

Samarkand, Bukhara, and Turkestan sit along the ancient Silk Road corridors of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan — cities where Timurid mausoleums, fortress walls, and tiled madrasas have stood for centuries at the crossroads of trade.

Across the archaeological hills in Turkestan, Bukhara and Samarkand entire layers of earlier cities remain unexcavated. This exposed, dusty ground reminds that what stands above the surface today is only the most recent chapter of a much longer, still-buried history.
